So I've been thinking about adding a new ore/s to The Nether, because at the moment, with only Venomite, Necromite, Nether Quartz and Ichorite (plus magma, but magma isn't really an ore), mining isn't too exciting. And the Nether is, after all, a huge cavern, so I think there should be more of a focus on mining there.
What types of ores would you like to see?
I had been thinking about some new ores and blocks to be put around to make mining more exciting so that is cool. They are bonestone, firestone, sharpetite, molten stone, and demonite. Bonestone-a white block with the bone meal texture that drops 0-4 bones. The bones can be used to make tools and armor and is the equivalent to stone. It can be crafted by putting four bones in a square. Firestone-extremely hot gems that are as rare as diamond and can only be mined with necromite. When the ore is mined it only drops one firestone. If you hold the firestone in your inventory for ten seconds then it will set you on fire. The only way to negate this is to either put it in a crafting grid with a water bottle or to toss it into a poison pond. It will then turn into a cooled firestone which can be crafted with. (You cannot craft with the uncooled firestones) the tools and armor are stronger than diamond and give a special ability. (I haven't thought of one yet). Sharpetite-a somewhat common ore that can be mined with bone (if you add it) or higher. You have to be careful with sharpetite because if you touch it then it will hurt you. When it is crafted into a sword then it automatically gets sharpness three. If you craft it into armor then the armor gets thorns. The other tools will mine pretty fast but you get less drops then usual when they are cursed. Molten stone is more of a decoration block that would look like a sandy colored block with lava streaks going through it. When it is stepped on it has the chance to light the player/mob on fire. Molten stone would spawn very commonly since the nether is full of fire and lava. Demonite is an ore that when mined it comes alive and starts hitting you. It only has eight hearts and the best weapon against it is a pickaxe. When you kill it it will drop demonite that can be used to make an unhostile version that will attack other mobs. The demonite can also be used to craft wings by putting three demonite down the middle and Phoenix feathers down either side. The wings will go in the torso armor section and will allow the player to fly and if they go into f5 mode or are in multiplayer then the wings will be on the back of the player and will flap when they are flying. I also had three more ideas that might be cool. 1. Flint and venom-like flint and steel except it makes green fire with an eerie green glow and poisons whatever walks on it. 2. Portal finder-crafted like a compass but with glowstone in the middle and physician instead of iron. It will work like a compass and point to the nearest nether portal. 3. Black mesa biome-a large dark biomedical made of dark stained clay colors, soul sand, and obsidian. It will not have any glowstone and will have dark mobs like wither skeletons and gluttons. If you need any ideas for mobs, bosses, items, blocks, decorations, biomes, structures, and concepts (by that I mean achievements, music, sounds, etc.) then just ask. Lastly, I wanted to suggest that when you fish in poison that you get poison items like poison potions, poison potatoes, puffer fish, and rarely genomics stuff.
I thought of mobs to go with some of the ores if you want to use them. Firestorm monsters-a 1 and a 1/2 block tall mob that is a combination of firestones and obsidian. They are not hostile unless you mine the firestones. Then they spit blaze fire at you from ranged and hit you to set you on fire up close. They will have 20 hearts and will regen really fast in lava. If you give them a firestone then they will become tamed to you. Note: it doesn't work with cooled firestones. I have three ideas for demons. 1. Chained demon-a player shape with a demon skin, demon horns, and demon wings. It will be wearing full chain armor with chains dangling off it and a ball and chain connected to one of its legs. It will have 25 hearts and will be able to fly with its wings. It will have slowness because of its ball and chain. It will be holding a mace (spiked ball connected to a hilt by a chain) that will be able to hit you from two blocks away and does four hearts of damage each hit. It will drop chain armor, demonite, and rarely it's mace. It should spawn in all structures (dungeons, nether fortresses, etc.) and should also spawn in the spiked cavern biome. 2. Speeder demon-only has ten health, but has speed seven with demonite boots (I forgot to mention those but they give you speed three and feather falling three). and holds a demonite sword in each hand (also forgot to mention that but you can craft a sword with demonite that does five damage to all non-demons). He is really hard to catch but if he runs into a two block or higher wall then he dies of impact. (He will just walk up one block high walls like a horse). 3. Demon dogs-black wolves the size of a pig that are not hostile against players unless hit and can be tamed with demonite. They can be ridden and controlled with an empty handed right click. It has thirty health and will inflict withering to anything it hits. It drops 0-2 demonite, rotten flesh, and bones.
I forgot to ask if you think the bone tools and weapons and armor should be made with bones or bonestone? Also, I had a sort of different idea that there should be glowsidian trees. Their trunks would be made of obsidian and their leaves would be made of glow stone. It isn't any new blocks or items added, I just thought it would be a cool structure and would make it easier to get glowstone for torches and stuff. One last thing, I think there should be obsidian armor and tools. The armor would be blast resistant, the sword and tools would have high durability and the tools would be able to mine somewhat fast. Also, I thought of an ability for the firestorm tools-they would auto-smelt meaning it would turn soul sand into soul glass, netherack into nether bricks, ores into ingots, etc. I hope you like these ideas. If not then that is ok. I am going to get the server up soon so that we can start working on spawn.
One last thing. I had a suggestion for each of the existing biomes. For the swamp I thought that witches should spawn and that there should be enchanted soul sand like mud. For the soul desert, I thought that there should be nether wart on the ground and red sand will be around with the chance to have dead bushes on it. For the spiked caverns I thought that there should be a rare loot chest or something inside certain stalagmites and stalagtites. I have a big plan for the lava oceans but I don't have time to type it right now so I will tell you tomorrow.
I know it is later than "tomorrow" but I was busy. The ideas I had are: 1. A pirate ship-large pirate ship structures that are made of vilewood, obsidian, and other wood types (if you add them). It will have loot chests inside and zombie pirate spawners. The ships will appear in the lava ocean and they will rarely be found shipwrecked in the spiked caverns. There will be different sizes of pirate ships ranging from small to large. The largest one will spawn a boss called captain witherbeard. The larger they are, the rarer they are. 2. Zombie pirates-they spawn on the pirate ships and will mostly stay on them. They are shaped and sized like the player, and wear various pieces of armor. However, they all hold sharpetite swords and have the same health as a zombie. They are automatically hostile against the player, and also against the blazing squidmen (explained later). 3. Captain witherbeard-a large, player shaped boss with a long black beard. He has 70 hearts and holds a sharpetite cutlass in each hand. He spawns zombie pirates and hits with his sword. He drops sharpetite and gold (like the zombie pirates) and he will also drop a sharpetite cutlass. When you hold the cutlass, then the zombie pirates will fight for you and will attack hostile mobs. 4. Blazing squidmen-a normal player body from the waste up, but has the legs of squid. They can walk on land and swim in lava but they usually spawn in large dungeon temples under the lava. There will be multiple entrances sticking up out of the lava where you can go down and explore. The squidmen can have any weapon from a bow to a reformist sword and will have random armor (chest plates and helms). They are automatically hostile against the player and zombie pirates. They will drop random weapons, armor, and ingots, but they will mainly drop inksacs. 5. Molten mage-a player sized mob that has purple robes, a wizard's hat, and holds a brain on a stick called the mind of the molten. He uses the mind of the molten to spawn fire mobs like brimspells, blazes, etc. He also can shoot blaze fireballs at the player. He has 50 hearts and drops potion items, fire items, and the mind of the molten which can be used to shoot fire, summon fire mobs, and give the player infinite fire resistance. The molten mage is very rare and only spawns in the spiked caverns biome.
So greenshoes, when are you going to update nether x to version 1.4? I was just wondering and would like to know what kind of stuff is going to be added.
